Rooms

At Jolly Tots we have 3 rooms: Treasures, Gems and Jewels.

Treasures

Baby Room (0-18/24 months)

Angela Foyle
Room Leader
Amy Jowett
Deputy Room Leader

Our baby room was opened in September 2008 and has gone from strength to strength. Jolly Tots parents like the cosy, home from home atmosphere and are full of praise for the staff in how supportive they are when returning to work and leaving their little 'treasures' in their new environment.

In addition to reaching key mile stones such as crawling and walking with the support and help of our skilled staff, our Jolly Tots babies enjoy a vast range of activities such as sand play, sensory exploration, heuristic play, painting and water play.

We are well known around the village as we can often be seen out walking with the babies using our various pushchairs (from quads to singles). We frequent the duck pond, river, butchers, post office and park. The babies also enjoy our nature walks and visits to the railway station.

Gems

Toddler Room (18 /24 months - 3 years)

Gill Moss
Room Leader
Sam Waugh
Room Leader

Our toddler room is a fast-paced, energetic room. The staff are skilled in catering for the needs of each child whether they are 18 months or three years old, and tailor the activities to suit the individual children. The children in our Gems room are beginning to explore the wonderful world around them; being inquisitive comes naturally to them and having the freedom to explore whilst having a nurturing adult when needed allows the Gems to flourish, learn and develop at an incredible rate. The balance between caring for the young children who are dependent on adult assistance whilst providing opportunities to help and encourage the older children to learn how to become a little more independent is a skill mastered by all staff in Gems. Music, movement, dance and stories feature highly on the list of interests in Gems, as do many creative and messy activities!

Jewels

Pre-school Room (3-5 years)

Catherine Westerman
Room Leader
Lyndsey Douthwaite
Room Leader

Our preschool room is where we help our children to prepare for their move to school. We do this, as we do in all our nursery rooms, by implementing carefully chosen, fun and exciting activities that stimulate, challenge and motivate our Jewels. The range of activities on offer ensures that we can plan for the children's interests. The most popular activities in Jewels are outdoor play, creative activities, ICT such as learning how to use the computer, construction and role play.

Children really do learn best through play and this ethos is embedded throughout the nursery; from the very beginning in our Treasures room, into our Gems room, right until the very end when our children leave our Jewels room to go to school.
