The nurturing ‘home from home’ ambience provides an environment for happy settled babies who thrive in our care. In addition to reaching key milestones such as crawling and walking, with the support and help of our skilled staff, our Jolly Tots babies enjoy a wide range of activities such as sand play, sensory exploration, treasure baskets, heuristic play, painting and water play.
We are well known around the village as we can often be seen out walking with the babies using our various pushchairs (from quads to singles). The babies enjoy a relaxing nature walk alongside trips to the local railway station, shops, library, park and river. As the children become more mobile, they are able to access outdoor play activities in the playground.
Our toddler room is a fast-paced energetic room whilst continuing to offer the nurturing care young children need. Children in our Gems room are beginning to explore the wonderful world around them; being inquisitive comes naturally and the opportunity and freedom to explore their interests allows the children to flourish, learn and develop at an incredible rate.
The staff are skilled in balancing each child’s individual needs and plan appropriate activities for children from the age of 18 months, when children often require more adult assistance, to 3 years when children are learning to become more independent. Music, movement, dance and stories feature highly on the list of interests in Gems, as do many creative, messy activities and outdoor play!
The focus in Pre-school is on preparing children for their move to Primary school. We do this, as we do in all our nursery rooms, by implementing carefully chosen, fun and exciting activities that stimulate, challenge and motivate the children.
The range of activities on offer ensures that we can plan for all children's interests. However, during their Pre-School year, more structure to the day is introduced, for example through registration and group time. Independence and self-care skills are more heavily focused upon. The most popular activities in Jewels include outdoor play, creative activities, construction and role play.
